WHAT IS THE SEVERANCE THEORY?
THE SEVERANCE THEORY is a four-part immersive theatre series exploring a rare and beguiling psychological phenomenon- Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
Formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder, the condition is often misunderstood. Our goal is to immerse audiences in a narrative that fascinates, educates, promotes empathy, and highlights how beautiful and complex the human mind truly is.
In THE SEVERANCE THEORY, participants will experience the world through the lens of Alex, the main character and host of the personality system, who afflicted by their unfortunate past must navigate the condition from its symptomatic beginnings to manifestation. The exploration of Alex's story allows us to examine the experiences of the past, how they affect us, and our capabilities in overcoming adversity.
Join us in this enigmatic journey as we unveil the intricacies of the mind.

THE SEVERANCE THEORY
CHAPTER ONE: WELCOME TO RESPITE
Welcome to Respite marks the first chapter of this enthralling journey. Designed for only a single audience member, this 30-minute encounter offers you a gateway into the unique perspective of those dealing with a mental disorder.
As an adult returning to your childhood home, you will find yourself swept into the past as you reexamine a seemingly charming adolescent memory. Coming to terms with your history is bittersweet. It is hoped that you might find solace in this moment, as respite is only temporary when you are at the whim of your own mind.
This multi-sensory experience simulates some of the confusing and often isolating symptoms of living with DID. Meanwhile, it is important to highlight that the condition is not only understandable, but also a relatable human experience.
Welcome home, Alex.
